Inazuma Clan
Current maximum number of Inazuma members: 0/4
Village: Kagegakure
Common physical traits:
-Nearly all members have yellow eyes. Roughly 10% (1 in 10) of the clan members also lack visible pupils. This doesn't directly affect their combat abilities, but it serves to prove ancestry, since only direct descendants of the original clan leader have this trait. These people tend to have higher status in the clan, but it is not a requirement for a high position.
-Excellent eyesight (roughly 1.75-2.5 in both eyes. 1.0 is normal human eyesight)
-Slender build
-There is a bit of variety in terms of looks, as the original Inazuma were not blood-related. Certain traits are universal due to selective breeding, however.
-Due to training with the leg weights, Inazuma generally have higher than average stamina.
Common mental traits:
-As people whose history predates the formation of the village, they have a strong sense of pride. This is expressed in nearly all members, sometimes to the point of arrogance.
-Loyalty to the clan is typically held in highest regard. Being citizens of Kagegakure, they are also extremely loyal to their home, however.
Abilities
-Affinity for lightning and speed
-Proficient in taijutsu
Common weaknesses
-As a result of their specialization in lightning jutsu, Inazuma members are almost universally ill-suited to battle fire and earth-type jutsu. While Lightning type chakra is strong against the Earth type, the actual mechanics of most Earth jutsu do not favor the fighting style of the Inazuma.
-Theirs is a body type that is obviously not built for outstanding physical strength or durability. While they are not abnormally weak in this aspect, the average Inazuma is slightly more susceptible to hard blows than the average shinobi.
-Unless he/she is trained in genjutsu, most Inazuma are significantly more susceptible to illusionary techniques than average.
-Their dependence on their eyes often leads them to somewhat overlook their other senses.
-Almost as if to pay for their enhanced vision, around 40% of Inazuma have a significantly weakened sense of smell. This trait is more common among those who lack visible pupils.
-An Inazuma who wants to learn any fighting style other than the clan's traditional arts typically receives little support from the clan. This includes learning jutsu of an element other than Lightning.
History
The Inazuma are one of the four noble clans of Kagegakure.
The Inazuma clan was formed when a group of unrelated people decided to form a family, to help one another in times of unrest. These people migrated from a neighboring country, after losing their home in a civil war. Their former home once held power that rivaled that of any great shinobi village, but in-fighting tore the once-great organization apart. The name of the village is now lost, but it is known that its shinobi excelled in the use of lightning techniques.
When the displaced refugees reached Mt. Hozuki, the leaders decided that training is important if they wish to protect the land they had found. The elevation made the mountain the perfect place to practice lightning jutsu, because of the dry air and proximity to the clouds.
This clan also once used the wide open spaces under the mountain for their training, which was perfect for their particular kind. The surrounding lands
bore plentiful amounts of food and water. Inside the mountain, where they resided, they created elaborate tunnels. The generations of surveying the land from the mountain bore them increased visual acuity, perfect for picking out fine details at long distances.
The founding of Kagegakure was at first deemed a huge threat, as its construction was to occur on the Inazuma clan's land. This sparked a conflict that caused many deaths, but due to the special Earth and Fire-element abilities of a certain shinobi on the other side the clan found themselves at a disadvantage. The Inazuma clan had decided that it was foolish for them to continue fighting when they didn't really stand a chance. The threat posed by that one shinobi (whose statue stands in the center of town), and the number of enemies proved too much for the Inazuma clan.
Before the clan could surrender, the unnamed shinobi came to them with a proposition: He offered to let the clan join their coalition in exchange for knowledge of their training methods and their cooperation in founding a new Hidden Village. At that point, the clan decided to leave the mountain and join the newly-formed Kagegakure. Most decided to go along with the truce, but some hadn't completely come to terms with the events that took place...
Kekkei Genkai:
-Jupiteru no Kodomotachi (Children of Jupiter)
The kekkei genkai of the Inazuma clan is true to its namesake. Visually signified in a glow in their yellow eyes, Jupeteru no Kodomotachi imparts a superior instinctive control of lightning chakra, manifesting itself in aptitude for the element that is unique among shinobi. The ability must be intentionally activated before use: it is not "constantly-on".
Foremost among its abilities is an enhanced sensitivity to electrical currents and fields. Internally, this lends itself to finer manipulation of one's own lightning chakra, easily using and mastering standard lightning techniques, and generating a few lightning effects that are perhaps unique. Externally, the user displays an increased sensitivity to electrical fields, particularly those present around living things. This particular skill is most applicable to Inazuma medical ninja, in that it makes locating injuries a simple matter of reading this field.
Genetically linked with the clan's signature yellow eyes, virtually all members have the capacity to unlock the bloodline, and most do during the course of their clan training. As it is most often activated during the use of high level lightning jutsu (it may in fact be the high current which creates the conditions which are necessary for its initial activation), almost no one gains access to it before the chuunin level.
Kekkei Genkai history:
A genetic fusion of two previously distinct bloodlines found in the Inzauma's now-defunct homeland, Jupiteru no Kodomotachi takes traits from both of its progenitors.
The first and most notorious of these bloodlines was Fulgora (A-rank). Giving the user the ability to directly activate the chemical energy within their cells, users of Fulgora had unprecedented control over lightning chakra, and the sheer destructive force was nearly unmatched. Exceedingly rare in the progenitor population, the bloodline was the stuff of mythos, with only one user appearing per five generations.
The second and much more common of the origin bloodlines was Illumas (D-rank). Imparting little more than a slightly increased internal sense of chakra and a glow of the eyes, it was commonly found throughout the Inazuma homeland, and was treated more as a party trick than a serious combat advantage.
The modern Jupiteru no Kodomotachi resembles Fulgora in application, and Illumas in proliferation. Relying on some of the same genetic mutations, the two bloodlines quickly developed in parallel once the bloodlines were crossed. In exchange for Illumas' genetic dominance, a significant portion of Fulgora's power was sacrificed. Given that the hybrid was much more common than Fulgura, and more useful than Illumas, selective breeding quickly caused it to outpace both in proliferation, quickly becoming the dominant expressed set of traits among the people who would eventually become the Inazuma.
Training
From a young age, the Inazuma thrain their bodies for pure speed, mimicing the style of their native country. At the age of 7, it's common practice for Inazuma children to wear leg weights for roughly 8 hours each day.The weights aren't exceedingly heavy, but they produce significant results. Depending on how the child progresses, more weight is added as they age. The weights are sometimes used to measure status and ability among Inazuma children.
At the age of 12, the child isn't allowed to remove the weights unless they are given permission from their sensei, who is usually familiar with Inazuma methods. At this time weight vest and arm weights are introduced in their training. The only other time that the weights are removed is during actual combat, in order to reap the full benefit of this strenuous training regiment. Under normal circumstances, these weights are worn 16 hours a day; They are worn for the entire day, and removed for sleeping.
This is normal practice until the child has reached either the rank of chuunin, or the . The decision of how they will train is now their choice from this point on. Most remove their weights but a select few continue this strenuous training.
The Inazuma clan also specializes in Lightning techniques. This is only fitting, since their fighting style emphasizes lighting-quick movements. A few techniques actually incorporate lightning attacks into taijutsu combinations, sometimes to lethal effect. Some of the most talented ninja in the clan's history have even managed to harness nature itself, manipulating the power of thunderstorms.
